Who Is Viking?
Our founder Tom Vermeeren launched Viking Plastics back in 1992 with the goal of becoming a one-stop shop for plastic, resin, and fiberglass products. Tom studied structural design at the Fanshawe College civil engineering technology program and NAIT plastic engineering technology program, giving him a solid background not just in structural design, but plastics manufacturing as well. Tom's background has been instrumental in leading the shift from metal parts to more affordable, lightweight plastic materials for use in a wide range of settings.
Over the decades of his career, he has also worked in the rubber industry, compounding, and molding rubber. In terms of plastics, he has worked in pultrusion, extrusion, injection molding and casting. This diverse background makes him uniquely equipped to continue to keep Viking Plastics at the forefront of this ever-evolving industry as we look to the future.
